Global Approach to the Consumption of Natural Products
Mahmoud Khodadoust
Consultant to the Minister and General Manager at the Office of Iranian Medicine of the Ministry
of Health and Medical Education
In today’s world, we can easily detect the global approach and tendency towards the consumption
of natural products. Even pharmaceuticals that are manufactured, if rooted in natural extracts, will
be more popular across the world. Therefore, with this approach, if with a consideration of the regional conditions of
our country on the one side, and the water resource limits that we have on the other, we could try and guide agriculture
towards the plantation of medical herbs, it will be a great help to our country in terms of the water resource shortage
that we are facing.
IRANPHARMA EXPO: A Show for the Rank of Iranian Herbal Medicine
Majid Davari
Policy-Committee Member of Green Gold Conference
In Green Gold Conference, our main focus is on herbal medicine and sometimes traditional
medicine. The issue of costs is one of the main points in this domain and when we will be able to
activate the potentials in the chemical and biotech pharmaceutical industries, we would be able to
help expand the pharmaceutical activities of this sector. Therefore, herbal medicine can be introduced as an effective
alternative for more expensive medicine or less accessible items. With regard to the access issue and the high costs
for advertisement, marketing, etc., this coincidence can be a great opportunity for showing the rank that our herbal
medicine industry has reached.
The World is moving towards Herbal Medicine
Dr. Jafar Mirfakhraei
Secretary of the Natural Products and Herbal Medicine Importers Association
About 80 to 90 percent of the population of the world consume herbal medicine. Therefore, this
industry has a very bright future. Everything works when the demand for it is created inside the
culture and it is the people who choose to go for chemical or herbal medicine. But until they
are not introduced, they will not be able to differentiate between their functions and uses. All these conferences and
conventions are aimed at this target. We must create the culture so that the people are informed. It is only after this
awareness that the people will be able to choose. Without awareness, anything that is presented to them will be
accepted, without knowledge of their impacts or side effects..
